Wipe with a soft dry cloth after wearing. Keep away from perfume, soap and sprays; a gentle polish with a dry cloth brings back the shine.

A kappu is a traditional wrist band worn by many devotees, often after a temple visit or a vow, as a visible sign of their devotion.

• Store it in a pouch, apart from other jewellery, to avoid scratches.
